Anne Marie grew up in Fort Wayne and worked for eighteen years in the Indianapolis television industry. She was a primary 5/6 and 11 PM anchor for WLWT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, prior to WTHR. Tiernon worked for WISH-TV in Indianapolis and WMBD-TV in Peoria, Illinois, before that. Before her broadcasting career, Anne Marie worked in public banking and divisional management in Chicago and Irvine, California.

When coming to her education, Anne Marie graduated from Medill at Northwestern University in Chicago with a master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, where she traveled to Moscow, Russia to study free press in the aftermath of Glasnost. Her undergraduate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington is in Economics. Her classwork at IU included research at the Tilburg, Netherlands School of Economics.
