De Leon started her career in broadcasting as a host of various entertainment TV programs. From there, she moved to reporting on the radio, and then TV news, at KNVO-TV in South Texas. She worked at that station for 4 years (from 2007 to 2011), and while there she covered the weather both in Spanish and English (she is a bilingual speaker). One of the weather stories she reported on there was the 2008 Hurricane Dolly.
De Leon is part of the NWA – National Weather Association and she holds their Seal of Approval. Before pursuing her meteorology career, De Leon was part of the singing group, Regional Mexican Band. here she used to dedicate most of her time to performing on the roads. Her singing band La Onda won 2 Latin Billboard Music Awards.
