Nitz serves at WSB-TV as a Weekday Evening Meteorologist. Previously, he was working as a meteorologist at NBC News. For much of his early career, his most forecasts have been tornadoes and hurricanes in Florida at stations in Jacksonville and Orlando.

Nitz holds multiple awards for his work as a meteorologist, inclusive of an Emmy Award which he received after his coverage of Hurricane Irma in the year 2017. Also, he is a proud nominee of Emmys for his work covering metro Atlanta’s flooding and tornadoes. The Atlanta chapter of the American Meteorological Society has awarded him the Excellence Award for “Outstanding and innovative live team coverage” of severe weather.
