The American Meteorological Society has honored Nitz with the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) designation. This is the topmost certification a broadcast meteorologist can get. He is among the first ninety meteorologists in Atlanta to complete the rigorous certification. This means that he can be counted in bringing the most accurate weather forecasts during severe weather or any other weather condition.
