Estevez serves at WSB-TV as an Evening News Anchor. Previously, he was in Orlando, Florida working for an ABC-affiliated TV station and WSB’s sister station, WFTV. He joined WFTV in the year 2001 as a news anchor/reporter. There he covered everything from NASA’s Shuttle Columbia Disaster to the effects of 9/11 on Central Florida tourism. He was also in the elements for the 2004 severe hurricane season, during which several back-to-back storms affected Orlando. In the year 2017, Estevez also covered the story of the great destruction left behind on the island of Puerto Rico by Hurricane Maria, which is so significant to the Orlando area because of the large population of Central Florida’s Puerto Rican.
The most memorable moment he has had on WFTV was the coverage of the mass shooting at the Pulse nightclub where 49 persons lost their lives in June 2016. He got to interview someone close to a person who had died when the names of the victims were released the very first night. Estevez was also asked to host the first organized vigil where fifty thousand people congregated around Lake Eola and felt intense sorrow for the lives lost. After Estevez spent some time at WFTV, he moved to WFOR-TV, the CBS station in Miami for a short period, where he won the nine Emmys. The Emmy Awards were for one of his reports on traffic patterns in South Florida. He spent several years at WFOR and after that, he made his return to WFTV.
Estevez started his career when he was in the late 1990s’ in New York City at News 12 The Bronx as a news reporter. A year did not end before he was being promoted to morning news anchor there. There at News 12 The Bronx, he was nominated for an Emmy because of his coverage of a story of a 12-year-old boy-turned-author after battling bone marrow cancer. During his leisure, he likes running and watching TV movies and shows.
