While at WRDW, the Georgia Associated Press recognized her with awards for “Best Anchor/Reporter” and “Best Documentary.” For her education, Ellison is a proud alumnus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Media and Journalism. Ellison underwent a diagnosis of fibroid tumors after experiencing her 2nd miscarriage. She afterward scheduled surgery to have the fibroids sacked hoping to increase her chances of a successful pregnancy. While preparing for the surgery, she made a decision to take more control of her health by changing her diet and watching out for chemical exposure.
She used to read the labels of lotions, hair relaxers, body wash, and makeup more closely and carefully and halted using or swapped out lots of products. A few weeks before the surgery, she felt a little weird, so she decided to take a pregnancy test and tested positive. She, therefore, canceled the surgery after realizing that God had other plans.
