There he spent 4 years (2018 – 2022). Before going to WPLG, Norcross worked as a senior hurricane specialist for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, Georgia.

In 1983, Norcross started stretching on television in Miami. Bryan worked as the senior hurricane specialist at The Weather Channel from 2010 through the busy 2017 hurricane season. Throughout that time, he anchored the coverage from the Atlanta headquarters of any major hurricane, including his thorough coverage of Hurricane Sandy in 2012 and Hurricane Irma in 2017.

After talking about South Florida via Hurricane Andrew in 1992, Bryan became nationally recognized. He was the in-house hurricane analyst for CBS News in New York from 1996 through 2008 and anchored the coverage for WFOR in Miami of various hurricanes. He worked for WTVJ and on NBC News programs from New York before that time, including the “Today” show.

Bryan appeared before the New York City Council after Superstorm Sandy about the city’s hazard identification and communications procedures before the storm. After Hurricane Andrew, Bryan was designated by Florida Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner Bill Nelson as an expert adviser to the Academic Task Force on Hurricane Disaster Insurance and was a member of the Governor’s Committee to review state response and propose Gov. Lawton Chiles’ improvements to the state emergency management system.

Bryan won the 1993 David Brinkley Award for Excellence in Communication in recognition of his work before during and after Hurricane Andrew. He was also publicly honored, among other cities, with Bryan Norcross Days’ designations in Miami, Miami Beach, and Fort Lauderdale. In addition, he is the recipient of the Southeast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Emmy Award and the DuPont and Peabody Awards, the top awards in the United States for broadcasting.

Bryan published his newest book, ‘My Hurricane Andrew Story’ in May 2017. The book also contains Bryan’s review of steps to be taken now if we are to navigate the great hurricanes of the future successfully. In 2006, St. Martin’s Press published Bryan’s detailed hurricane guide called “Hurricane Almanac”. Hurricane research, history, preparedness, and more are covered in the book. In the spring of 2007, a follow-up version was published.
