Besides working as a journalist, he has been working as a Substitute School Bus Driver for DeKalb County Eastern Community School District in Butler, Indiana, since August 2014. From June 2013 to May 2014, he worked as a Bus Driver at Karst Stage in Bozeman, Montana. 

Before joining WILX, he worked for WFFT-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana as a news reporter. While he was there, the Society of Professional Journalists honored him for his work on breaking news. Before going to WFFT, Butler worked for WTVG-TV in Toledo, Ohio as a producer. Also, he served at KWYB-TV in Bozeman, Montana as a news reporter. 

Butler has worked for ABC/FOX Montana in Bozeman, Montana as a Multimedia Journalist for a year. While in college, he worked for Indiana Public Radio in Muncie, Indiana as a Student Reporter for 1 year and 9 months. Butler has interned at WANE-TV in Fort Wayne, Indiana for 4 months (May 2012 – Aug 2012). In addition, Butler has worked as a reporter at NewsWatch for 1 year and 1 month.

Butler looks forward to reporting the issues of Michigan’s capitol and explaining how those decisions affect individuals across the entire state. During his leisure time, he likes to explore what Mid-Michigan has to offer.
