He’s well known for his coverage of specialty reporting, breaking news, and humor. Furthermore, he has been selected as the best male anchor every year in local viewer polls and honored by the Radio and Television News Directors Association for his popular “Animal Stories” feature with the highly-coveted Edward R. Murrow Award.
Additionally, he has worked in both television and radio, and while he worked on radio, he received many wire service awards for breaking news coverage. In addition, while he was at KCBS-AM, he was a member of its Peabody Award-winning news team. Furtehr, his television career started in San Francisco where he worked at KGO-TV covering the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.
Later on, he worked at the ABC network serving as a field producer. Not long after he was named as the anchor and news director at KMIZ-TV in Columbia, Missouri and while he was there he was honored with the Missouri Broadcaster’s Association award for breaking news coverage three consecutive times.

During this time, he did a documentary on television and for this, he was awarded an Edward R. Murrow Award in addition to receiving an Emmy nomination.
