He holds 5 Emy Awards, including 3 Emmys for Best Television Weathercaster in Texas. In the year 1992, Henry earned the American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval. He was also the first meteorologist in the DFW area to hold the prestigious Certified Broadcast Meteorologist Seal in the year 2007.
Growing up on the East Coast, Philadelphia meteorologists forecasted that there would be 1 to 3 inches of snow at 11 p.m. When Henry woke up the next morning, there were 2 feet of snow on the ground. He says that the Presidents’ Day Blizzard left him in awe and ignited his interest in forecasting and meteorology.
Henry began his TV career at a small station in Wilmington, North Carolina. Throughout his career, he has experienced and witnessed every type of weather, ranging from blizzards and ice storms to hurricanes and heat waves to floods and hailstorms to a few tornadoes. He has rarely gotten to speak with people who were ‘IN’ the storms while he reported “ON” the storms. Henry was inspired to track down and interview the survivors after a number of severe weather events in North Texas.
