At the CNN Bureau in Washington, DC, he started his career in 1981 as a producer and correspondent, reporting from the White House and State Department. He produced for ABC News from Washington, DC, from 1985 to 1991, and later broadcast from the Midwest for World News Tonight and Good Morning America.
Dan anchored and reported on The West / In America from 1991 to 1992, the nationally syndicated newsmagazine created by Sacramento’s Kelly News & Entertainment. He worked as a senior correspondent for the American Journal, the news magazine published in New York by King World, from 1992 to 1994.
Dan traveled on presidential campaigns throughout his career, tracked a suspected Nazi war criminal to Germany, investigated the killing of nearly extinct black rhinos in Zimbabwe, and exposed a priest in the Bay Area for molesting dozens of children.
Eventually, the priest was arrested and sent to jail. He is also a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors, Inc. (IRE), the investigative journalists’ professional association, and the Society of Professional Journalists.
Noyes holds various industry awards. Seven Emmy Awards for Outstanding Achievement were awarded to him by the National Academy of Television Arts and Science (NATAS): Investigative Reporting and Continuing Coverage. Dan holds 6 honors from the Radio and Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) for Best Investigative Reporting and Best News Reporting in Northern California.
The RTNDA Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Investigative Reporting was also given to Dan.
