Prior to joining WICU-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania, he worked with the Commonwealth Broadcasting Group in Greenville, Mississippi, and also with the Tegna formerly Gannet in Beaumont/Port Arthur, Texas. He did undergraduate work at Roanoke College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Mathematics before attending Mississippi State University.

In 2011, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Meteorology and a minor in Geological, Earth Sciences, and Geosciences. During his time in college, he took part in a two-week storm chase on the Great Plains, the coolest thing he ever did as a student. His group caught 5 tornadoes that extended from Texas to South Dakota on their mission.

Wolter observed some of the worst destruction that Mother Nature could deal with in 2011 a short time prior to graduating from Mississippi State University. Various cities and towns in Alabama and Mississippi were almost wiped out by the massive tornado outbreak. He joined the American Red Cross to speak to many individuals who went through the entire nightmare. That experience sealed his passion to become an on-air meteorologist.

Upon graduation in 2011, he got his first on-air career in Greenville, Mississippi at WXVT where he covered severe weather and sunshine. Later moved t Lone Star State to report the blistering Texas heat. During his stint in Beaumont, Texas at KBMT, he reported a few rare winter storms and multiple flash floods. For the three years in Erie, he is now absolutely more habitual to the cold and snow. He holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.
