Dawndy Mercer Plank Career

Dawndy is a member of Shandon Baptist Church and a frequent speaker at churches across the state. She serves on the board of directors of the Oliver Gospel Mission. She’s been a long-time member of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences’ Sister Study on Breast Cancer. Dawndy is involved in a variety of healthy-living initiatives, including being on the committee for Heart & Sole, a women-only run and walk to combat heart disease. She is a marathon and triathlon who is dedicated to helping others live healthy lives. She also advocates for plant-based nutrition.

Dawndy began her television career in 1989 when she moved from Indianapolis, Indiana to Green Bay, Wisconsin to work as a reporter for WBAY TV.

She moved to South Carolina in 1992 to co-host WIS News Sunrise before being elevated to anchor the evening shows.

Dawndy relocated to Houston, Texas in 1996 and began acting in commercials, print ads, and industrial films. She worked at KNWS News, KTRK TV, and KSBJ Christian Radio in Houston, as well as hosting a horse and travel show. In 2001, Dawndy returned to WIS Television.
