Kennedy was acquitted of misdemeanor physical harassment and child endangerment charges on November 20, 2012, in connection with a confrontation with two nurses at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, New York, on January 7, 2012, two days after his son, Anthony Boru, was born there.
Kennedy sought to take his infant outside the maternity unit for some fresh air, which two nurses claimed was against hospital protocol and that he assaulted them when they tried to stop him. Following the incident, Kennedy was investigated separately by New York child welfare officials, but social workers discovered no signs of child abuse in his household and deemed the charges false in March 2012.
