Edward Shaw Education
Shaw joined Virginia Tech University in 2020 after completing his high school education. In 2024, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology and a Geography minor.
During college, Shaw was heavily involved with his department and college. In this capacity, he worked as president of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the AMS/NWA. In 2024, his organization clinched the 2024-2025 AMS Chapter of the Year in the local chapter poster competition at the National AMS Conference. Further, he chased storms with the Hokie Storm Chasers and regularly studied severe weather events.
Shaw worked as the weather director of WUVT 90.7 FM. Additionally, he served as the ambassador of the College of Natural Resources and Environment. From 2023 to 2024, he served as president of the Chi Epsilon Pi Meteorology Honor Society.
Shaw worked as an intern at WRIC-8 in Richmond, Virginia. He recently served the NBC News Weather and Climate Unit. At NBC, he produced stories and graphics for NBC, including the TODAY Show and Nightly News. Additionally, he helped in the production of the 2024 NBC Eclipse Special and occasionally worked alongside legendary weathercaster Al Roker on multiple stories and breaking weather events.
