Linnert was lucky to survive the tornado in addition to another tornado occurring while she was at Michigan State University some years later. Linnert attended Michigan State University where she graduated proudly.
Not long after, she was able to secure a job at WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan where she served as a morning news anchor for six years. Later on, in 2006, she joined the WOOD TV8 news team.
