Before going to Maine, Gullickson lived and worked in his home state of Minnesota. He began his career at KEYC in North Mankato and later moved to KQDS Fox 21 in Duluth. His journey in Maine started in Bangor, where he joined ABC 7/Fox 22 as a production assistant. He was later promoted to the role of photojournalist at the same station.
