He has more than 3.5 decades of TV and radio broadcast experience – all in Michigan. Before joining WILX, he worked for Fox Sports Detroit as a freelance producer. Before that, he served at WLNS-TV in Lansing, Michigan as a sports director. Heumann worked for WXYZ-TV in Detroit, Michigan as a sports reporter/anchor before joining WLNS.
In Michigan, he has worked for; WDIV-TV in Detroit as a sports reporter; WJBK-TV in Detroit as a sports reporter/weekend sports anchor; WJRT-TV in Flint as a weekend sports anchor; and WJIM-TV in Lansing as a sports reporter. He has also served at a number of radio stations in Michigan; WVFN-AM in Lansing; WLLZ-FM in Detroit; WJR-AM in Detroit; 92.1 The Ticket FM Sports Radio in Lansing; and WCSX-FM in Detroit
Throughout Heumann’s career, he has earned numerous awards and honors. While at WLNS, he earned awards for best sportscast from the Associated Press and Michigan Association of Broadcasters (MAB). While at WJBK, he earned an Emmy Award for outstanding feature reporting. In the year 2018, he was inducted into the Central Michigan University Journalism Hall of Fame.
In the mid-1990s, Heumann did radio play-by-play for the University of Michigan Basketball for 2 years. Also, he served as a producer, writer, and anchor of more than 50 hour-long sports specials during his 17 years at WLNS-TV in Lansing.
