She has been a nominee for the Emmy Awards twenty times including nominations for Consumer Reporting, General News Reporting, Crime Reporting, Live Reporting, Technology Reporting, General News Reporting, and Spot News Reporting. She was awarded a Heartland Emmy in 2018 for her Human Interest reporting.
Allen reported and anchored in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Texas, and Sherman before she came to Denver 7. She worked as a research assistant and associate producer in Oklahoma City while still in college. In addition, she also went to France for her studies and she speaks (sort of) fluent French. When coming to her education, she studied and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oklahoma with degrees in journalism and music.
She was raised in rural Oklahoma together with her three younger sisters and ample space. She likes traveling and so far she has only not been to Antarctica which she intends to visit along with a long list of other places she and her husband intend to travel to. During her weekends when she is not warded up with a book or drinking good coffee, she enjoys skiing in the mountains, trying to fix broken items in her house, doing yoga at the park, or hiking.
