When he joined the WKYC studios he said that it had always been his dream to work in the Cleveland market. He continued to state that he is more than happy to come back home and work in and cover the community he loves after working in the northeast covering sports at the network level for fifteen years.
His career in journalism began in Hazard, Kentucky where he served as the Sports Director for WYMT-TV. Later on, he relocated to Hartford, Connecticut where he served as a weekend Sports Anchor at WTIC-TV. Later, he returned to his native home Ohio, where he assisted in launching Wall to Wall Sports, a 30-minute sports show still on the air today on WBNS-TV.
Additionally, he was promoted to Sports Director at WFTS-TV in Tampa, Florida. In 2007, his popular show Cold Pizza became ESPN’s First Take after ESPN had approached him in 2003. In five years’ time, he was on the SportsCenter division to host the midday program where he remained until 2017.
During his career as an anchor, he has been awarded several awards such as the Best Sportscaster Award from the Kentucky Associated Press, three Society of Professional Journalists Best Sports Program Awards, and four regional Emmy Awards. Additionally, he has made. contributions to the Special Olympics, and he has hosted the Children’s Miracle Network. He teamed up with Betsy Kling the Chief Meteorologist 3News, to create a new 5 p.m. show known as What’s News.
