During her time there, she anchored the 6 p.m. weekday reporting, and the weekend morning newscasts on WKYC studios in Cleveland, Ohio. Additionally, she served as part of the team that attained a Lower Great Lakes Emmy Award for Large Market Daytime Newscast.

She has also served as an anchor and an investigative reporter for WTOC in Savannah, Georgia. While she was at WTOC, she assisted in the re-launch of its investigative unit. Also, she helped in launching multi-platform digital newscasts for WTOC. Additionally, while she was in Georgia, she did help in shedding some light on the increasing sex trafficking issue.

Following her investigation, she attained broad recognition. Furthermore, after she did a report on a woman who was a victim of domestic abuse and she had to call 911 twice for help, Smith sparks a review of the Chatham County 911 Call Center protocol. In addition to working at WTOC, she also worked in Jacksonville, Florida at ActionNewsJax, the CBS/FOX duopoly.

While in Florida, she served as a morning anchor and reporter. She reported and anchored a number of big stories such as hurricanes Matthew and Irma, Congresswoman Corrine Brown’s federal fraud trial, Jordan Davis/Michael Dunn’s loud music gas station shooting trial, and more. Her career in journalism began in Albany, Georgia where she worked at WFXL FOX 31 News.

While she worked at WFXL FOX 31 News, she served as a weekend anchor, main anchor, executive producer, and multimedia journalist. Atlanta was where she was raised and while she was in Atlanta, she found the interest to be a journalist. After she was done with her education, she relocated to Baltimore where she worked in pharmaceutical sales
