She graduated the next year, fell in love with Austin, and promised herself that she would return to the Capital City one day.
Further, she returned to Austin in 2001 after six years at KBTX-TV in Bryan and College Station. While there, she worked as a weekend anchor at a rival station. But it’s her 7th place ribbon in gymnastics for her beam routine in the 8th-grade regional competition that she recalls the most. A misstep knocked the 13-year-old off the balance beam and nearly to the ground after weeks of practice.
