While in Bern, he provided coverage for Hurricane Florence, as well as Hurricane Dorian and Hurricane Isaias, in North Carolina, for which he was nominated for an Emmy. Shane was born in Princeton, North Carolina. Shane’s interest in meteorology began in middle school when he won an after-school science competition.
It was also during this period that he developed an interest in public speaking and began participating in local, regional, and national competitions. Shane worked with the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science on hurricane prediction model accuracy during his tenure at the University of Miami.
He also did an internship at WTVJ, where he researched the accuracy of regular forecasting models in South Florida. During his free time, he can be found at a local movie theater, running, or spending time with his dog, Stratus. He loves to explore Central Texas and looks forward to trying out all the different kinds of cuisine.
