In May 2016, Holden joined the Eyewitness News team as a general assignment reporter. He previously worked for WPXI-TV in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where he covered the visit of Pope Francis to Philadelphia, among other high-profile news. He was also an investigative reporter for WBRE-TV in the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton market, for WVIR-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia, and for WPHL-TV in Philadelphia as an assignment editor.
As a youth, at St. Donato Parish in Overbrook, he was the choir director and organist, and later, director of music at St. Charles Borromeo in Drexel Hill. His love of music helped to pay for his way to college. Joe has a track record of keeping elected officials accountable and breaking several reports about government corruption and environmental concerns, including stories related to the reputed Luzerne County Kids for Cash scandal and how public boards treated the growth of the Susquehanna and Bradford counties’ Marcellus Shale industry.
When coming to his education, Joe attended St. Laurence Parochial School and Drexel Hill Monsignor Bonner High School, in Upper Darby. He graduated from Cabrini College in 2002, where, before receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and communication, he was the editor-in-chief of the college newspaper, The Loquitur.
