The Cleveland Press Club has recognized Telich with the Chuck Heaton Award. The Cleveland Association of Broadcasters inducted him into their Hall of Fame in the year 2007.
When coming to his education, he is a proud alumnus of Euclid High School and Ashland College. During his leisure time, he likes running, walking on local trails, or spending time with his family and friends. Telich has finished more than 100 triathlons. Among them are 3 Ironman Distance races. In just more than 29 hours, Telich finished the Burning River 100 Mile Ultra Marathon in the year 2012.

Telich’s final day on TV was on FOX 8 News – WJW, and it was on February 7, 2022. He worked or the station for over 40 years. His retirement was announced on TV that day, and the FOX 8 team said that they will pay a special tribute to him. In his retirement, Telich stated that although he retired, he would still be seen on various projects including Friday Night Touchdown.
