Sze joined the University of California at Berkeley after completing her high school education. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. While in college, she interned at virtually every Bay Area TV station, and she reported for the campus radio station KALX. Before returning home to the Bay Area and ABC7 News in 1998, she reported in Binghamton, New York, Fresno, Philadelphia, and New York City. 20 years later, she still feels humbled and privileged to be a journalist in her hometown.
