She received the Teddy Award for “Best News Anchor” in North Dakota from the North Dakota Broadcasters Association in 2009.

Kristin has earned three major statewide honors for her reporting since joining the WSBT 22 team. She won first place Best Investigative Report at the Indiana Associated Press 2011 Broadcast News Competition for her work researching a local farming company that was releasing scorching hot water into a creek. Her Investigative Report on the counties in Michigan that still authorize the use of gas chambers to euthanize animals took second place. She also placed third in the state for Best Reporter.

Kristin received her Bachelors of Science in Communication from the University of Indianapolis before beginning her television career. In 2003, she won first place for “Best TV story” from the Indiana Association of Schools while working as a reporter on UIndy’s campus TV show. In 2004, she received a second-place award for “TV news or feature” and a third-place award for “Best reporting” from the Society of Professional Journalists.

Kristin was born and raised in Huntley, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Kristin, her husband, two children, and their dogs live in Granger. In the summer, she enjoys going to the Morris Performing Arts Center and spending time at Silver Beach in St. Joseph, MI. When she isn’t working, she and her husband can be found traveling or attempting to grow.
