Laura Caso Career

Her journalism career began at WENY-TV in Elmira, New York where she served as the morning news. She relocated to Jacksonville, Florida where she worked at TEGNA on First Coast News as a weekend anchor and reporter after she had finished exploring the Twin Tiers. Afterward, she relocated to Hampton Roads, Virginia where she worked at WAVY-TV as an evening anchor. In addition, while she was at WAVY-TV she contributed to the launch of two new evening newscasts. It makes her happy to return to TEGNA and focus on what the company does best hard-hitting journalism.

In her career as an anchor, she has received several awards from various organizations. Not long ago, the Virginia Associated Press Broadcasters awarded her for Best Newscast at a Large Television Market. In addition, for a Sports News Story, she did the Associated Press for Best Coverage gave her an award.

On two separate occasions, she covered the arrival of President Trump and Vice President Mike Pence and contributed to team coverage of a number of high-profile stories including the tragic mass shooting in Virginia Beach. In addition, during the tornadoes and hurricanes in Virginia, North Carolina, and beyond, she anchored wall-to-wall coverage. Furthermore, she covered the young boy’s battle with cancer allowed him to find the life-saving liver he needed – allowing Laura to experience first-hand the life-changing positive impact her work can have in 2019.

 Massachusetts is her native home. She attended the University of Miami where she attained a major in Music and Broadcast journalism. While she was a child, she would sing at a Boston Red Sox game with her school choir remains a cherished memory and this is where her love for music began. Furthermore,  still at a young age, she started writing children’s stories and still developed an interest in journalism at the same time.

Chicken Pox Explosion, a book she wrote while in the fifth grade was published, and signing it for the first time remains her best moment. Additionally, regardless it is a hard news copy or a fairy tale she loves telling good stories to children along the east coast.

During her downtime, she can be found exploring Cleveland and its delightful and diverse neighborhoods. Together with her husband, they do enjoy traveling and spending time with their pup, Sadie. Furthermore, she does enjoy cooking and baking.
