Green serves at FOX News Channel (FNC) as a chief religion correspondent. She was named Miss Minnesota in 1984 and was the third runner-up in the 1985 Miss America contest. More recently, in 2013, Green reported live from Rome on the election of Pope Francis, as well as on Pope Benedict XVI’s retirement. In addition, she delivered live coverage of the 2011 beatification of Pope John Paul II from Rome and the 2008 visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United States.
Prior to joining FNC, Green worked at WBBM-TV (CBS-2) in Chicago, IL, as a weekend news anchor and correspondent. She was a general assignment reporter at KSTP-TV (ABC-5) in St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1988 to 1993. Green is a reputable concert pianist with a degree in piano playing from the University of Minnesota outside of her career at FNC. In the classical music community, she interviewed some of the most famous individuals, including Placido Domingo, Pierre Boulez, and Joshua Bell, and covered activities such as the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and The Metropolitan Opera’s opening night. She released her debut album, ‘Modern Elegance,’ in 2004.
Green campaigned for churches that ignored court orders to avoid mass crowds during the COVID-19 pandemic. An editorial penned by her and released by Fox News on March 15 contained a stock photo of people holding hands when it was cautioned against by CDC guidelines at the time. The article called a “temporary or flimsy barrier to a raging tsunami” washing hands, sanitizing homes, and exercising social distancing. Green interviewed Louisiana pastor Tony Spell for a Fox News article in which she maintained that The fundamental right to freedom of religion in the United States is sacrosanct.”
Spell mentioned in Green’s report that the church closings were racially motivated and that his church members were “healed of HIV and cancer — diseases [that are] bigger than COVID-19.” by faith. When coming to her education, she is a graduate of the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
