Layron Livingston Career

Livingston serves at WPLG Local 10 News as a weekend morning co-anchor at 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. He hit the ground running at Local 10–he went live on his first day, interviewed presidential candidates, and helped Local 10 provide you with team coverage of the horrific shooting of the Pulse nightclub in Orlando—all within the first six months. The news is not necessarily “good news,” but he thinks that when the news is told in a persuasive, demonstrative, insightful, respectful, and honest way, the effect will always be good.

He covered and anchored for WHIO-TV, Dayton’s No.1 news channel, prior to joining the Local 10 News team in January 2016. While there in 2014, his work covering the epidemic of heroin and prescription drugs in southwest Ohio won him an Emmy nomination. He anchored, reported, produced, and photographed news for KLTV, the No.1 Tyler, Texas station, before moving to Ohio.

When coming to his education, he graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in journalism with a focus on government. It was in Austin where the television bug first hit him—first on campus, where he was reporting for a student-led, student-run television station—then as a production assistant at the local Austin-based NBC affiliate. As a writer and researcher, he later joined the WRC-TV market unit in Washington, D.C.

Don’t be shocked if you see him singing in the grocery store at the top of his lungs, while driving around town, or trying on a pair of shoes at the Aventura Mall. And there are, like those beaches right there! That means truly, there’s an ocean right there!

He’s not able to get enough. Normally, you can catch his updates early and dark, beginning at 4:30 a.m., at 9 a.m. And noon on the No.1 Morning Local 10 Newscast. He is looking forward to continuing to tell the stories of South Florida, so feel free to give him tips for news and story ideas.
