Harrison holds honors from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press (AP) for her series on an apartment complex that was left in a legal limbo where low-income tenants chose to sleep in the parking lot rather than their bug-ridden units. Harrison’s series on the Lansing School District assisted in sparking a Title IX investigation by the Department of Education after 2 young students (girls) got suspended after they reported their sexual assaults to their principal.
Harrison is a strong volunteer in the community. She volunteers her time speaking with both college and high school students about career choices. She also emcees multiple charitable events. Harrison has worked on the directors’ board for the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. During her leisure time, she likes to practice photography, camp, read fiction novels, attend music festivals, or listen to the latest episodes of her favorite podcasts.
