Gomez worked at WVEN-Univision Orlando before joining AccuWeather in December 2017. During Hurricanes Irma, Maria, and Matthew, he provided extensive weather coverage. He also covered a variety of topics that are important to the Central Florida Hispanic community.
Gomez grew interested in broadcasting at a young age from watching Spanish television news shows while growing up in a bilingual and multicultural setting outside of Chicago. He interned at WSNS Telemundo Chicago, WLS ABC7 Chicago, WOCK MundoFOX13, and WGBO Univision Chicago while pursuing his first degree. When a tornado warning was given during a live broadcast on Telemundo, he became interested in meteorology. Marvin was present when the necessity to relay the alert became urgent. From there, he realized he wanted to work as an on-air meteorologist, communicating weather threats and related news.
Gomez, a Guatemalan immigrant, is proud to be living the American Dream. He speaks English as a second language and aspires to study Italian completely in the future. He sees himself as a global citizen who loves to travel. The National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences both recognize Marvin. He enjoys communicating with people on social media and sharing AccuWeather weather reports in order to keep people safe.
