a). Acting Career
Naughton began her acting career, in the biopic film “Notorious” (January 2009) in March 2008, where she portrayed the role of ‘Lil’ Kim’. The movie received mixed reviews but made over $43 million worldwide. Lil Kim wasn’t upset with Naughton’s portrayal but with how she was depicted.
She also starred in the Fame remake as Denise, an aspiring singer. Despite negative reviews, the film opened at No. 3 at the U.S. box office and earned $77 million worldwide when released in September 2009.
In August 2010, Naughton appeared in an episode of “Mad Men” and later played a Playboy Bunny mistress in the TV series “The Playboy Club”. After only 3 episodes, the show was canceled. She also appeared in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and in December 2011, she joined the Lifetime drama series The Client List. In September 2012, Naughton starred in the BET film Let The Church Say Amen, directed by Regina King, based on the bestselling novel of the same name by ReShonda Tate Billingsley.
On March 8, 2021, they said that Naughton would be part of the TV show “Queens” on ABC, along with Eve and Brandy. Then, on October 1, 2021, they released the first promo song from Queens called “Nasty Girl.” Naughton sang it with Velazquez, Eve, and Brandy, who are also in the cast.

Naughton’s love for music started when she was just five years old, and she joined her church choir at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, NJ. This is the same church where Whitney Houston also sang when she was young. She kept learning about music at the Newark School of the Arts. Naughton sang the national anthem at different events in New Jersey.
On August 25, 2009, Naughton recorded 5 songs for the Fame soundtrack. The next month, she had her first solo chart entry with her cover of Fame, reaching No. 33 on the UK Singles Chart and the Top 20 in Finland, Portugal, and Norway. In the year 2010, she released an extended play called “Fame Presents Naturi Naughton as Denise: Didn’t I Tell You?”. The EP included some songs people already heard and some new ones.

Their debut album, 3LW, released on December 5, 2000, achieved platinum status, selling 1.3 million copies in the U.S. The group joined the MTV TRL tour in the summer of the year 2001.
