She has received three Emmy Awards since she started her journalism career nearly twenty years ago. One of her Emmy Awards was for field anchoring after Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ deadly Tucson shooting and assassination attempt. Her other Emmy Award was for her series called “Keeping the Promise” which was about the military struggles and success profiles, and a third for breaking news.

Crites is also a board member of the Military Assistance Mission, a nonprofit organization supporting Arizona military families. Prior to joining Arizona Family, she worked at KREM2 Media Group where she served as a reporter and anchor from August 2000 to December 2004 in Spokane, Washington.

From February 2000 to August 2000, she worked at KVOA-TV where she served as a weekend assignment editor and general assignment reporter in Tucson, Arizona. She interned at 48 Hours from May 1999 to August 1999 in New York where she also served as a temporary production assistant for CBS News. In 1996, she joined The University of Arizona where she attained her B.A. in Journalism in 2000.
