Also, she co-hosted the network’s “Great Day at 9A,” a third-hour segment about everything from food to fashion, philanthropy, health, sports, family, music, entertainment, consumer news, and parenting. She left the station in September 2025, after spending 12 years there.
Nalepa had no idea that this team would turn into a family. Nicole spent several years anchoring and reporting in the mornings at WWLP in Springfield, MA, before coming to Connecticut.
During the manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Nalepa was one of the first “live on-scene” reporters from western Massachusetts; CNN aired several of her life stories and her work led to an Emmy-winning newscast.
Nalepa accompanied local pilots who were transporting help to one of the hardest-hit areas in New Jersey just days after Hurricane Sandy paralyzed parts of the Northeast, and filmed her trip.
Nalepa also covered the deadly tornado that ripped through western Massachusetts in 2011 and was part of the news team that won two Emmys and an AP Award for the coverage. On the “Evening News with Katie Couric,” she was chosen for a post-graduate internship at CBS News in New York.
Nicole is very busy in the community when she’s not on air. She serves as a board member for the “Community Music School,” records a weekly broadcast for CRIS Radio, and spends most of her spare time visiting local schools, reading to students, hosting various events, and raising money for charity.
