She started her television journalism career as a WPRI-TV youth reporter in Providence, R.I. Kara also worked in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and interned at the Washington Bureau of the White House and CNN. In addition to that, she studied in Spain and speaks Spanish.
She is the author of Finding Dad: From Love Child to Daughter, where she tells the story of meeting her biological father, Bruce Sundlun when he was the Governor of Rhode Island when she was a teenager. At a time when fatherlessness is an epidemic in America, she uses her own tale to speak about the healing influence of a father and the power of forgiveness. In addition, she is a Huffington Post contributor. When coming to her education, she graduated from the University of Michigan with honors, where she earned a dual degree in political science and communications.
