During her time at Cal TV, she dove right in and learned the skills she relies on today, like editing, shooting, and reporting on camera. She tackled various local stories, from political protests to homelessness. Also, she had the honor of being the 1st journalist to interview Carol Christ, the 1st female Chancellor of UC Berkeley. Shaheen didn’t stop there; she also wrote for the Berkeley Political Review about global politics. She says that one of her most cherished videos featured the UC Police Department’s new bomb detection K9, Obi.

Shaheen says that she thinks that journalism can offer comfort, trust, and knowledge, and make a difference, and she’s really curious about the world and enjoys delving into the nitty-gritty details of every story. During her spare time, she likes to spend time with her loved ones (friends and family), rock climb, go on hikes and camps, surf, play volleyball, explore the California State, or play the ukulele.
