Wilkerson broadcasted the busiest hurricane season to date along the Gulf Coast, exposed corruption among city leaders, NAS Pensacola mass shooting, and secured an exclusive interview and apology from a suspect’s father charged with murdering a police officer the night of the shooting. That night, the station won an Alabama Broadcasters Association Best Newscast Award.
Wilkerson’s work has led to some of the biggest investigations for local law enforcement and many arrests. Additionally, she got results for multiple members of the community by getting many lights installed, loved ones relocated from a cemetery that was never regarded as legal, bills settled, and additions of stop signs to busy streets.
Wilkerson’s most treasured investigation exposed the warning signs and suspicious stories the day an 8-year-old with special needs passed away. During her last day in Mobile, his mother was arrested and accused of negligence in his demise.
During her career, Wilkerson has received 10 Emmy nominations. The National Academy of Television Arts & Science Great Lakes Chapter nominated her for their Daily News Reporting Award in 2024. The Alabama Broadcasters Association granted her their 2022 Best Reporter Award, 2021 Best Investigative Journalist Award, and 2020 Best Reporter Award. Further, she worked with a team that secured a regional Edward R. Murrow “Overall Excellence” In News Coverage Award.
