Before that, she served at KXMB-TV in Bismarck, North Dakota as a news producer, anchor, multimedia journalist, and crime reporter for 3 years and 3 months.
While working for WCIA, she uncovered the under-delivering and overselling of healthcare alternatives of the biggest health insurance company in Illinois, which violated the law policies of the state. As a result of Cooper’s investigative coverage, the rules of the state rules changed, and forth legislation was introduced. During Cooper’s time at KXMB, she covered several stories, one of them being in Fargo, North Dakota, where he covered in front of Air Force One.
During Cooper’s initial year at KXMB, the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association honored her with the Eric Sevareid Award. She was awarded this honor for “her “Broadcast Writing” work and this award was KXMB’s premier 1st-place award. Also, she was honored with the 2nd first place Eric Sevareid Award for writing, editing, and shooting her solo project, named “Series”. This project was concerned with North Dakota’s tribal citizens who were faced with barriers to justice.
Cooper has worked for Carolina News in Colombia, South Carolina as a news reporter for half a year (2016). She has also interned at NBC News in Charleston, South Carolina for 3 months in the year 2015. While there, she provided live coverage of the Mother Emanuel AME Church hate crime attack, where 9 individuals lost their lives. Cooper is passionate about ethics and public service.
Besides working as a journalist, Cooper has also worked for American Income Life Insurance Company in Colombia, South Carolina as a manager for 10 months. During her leisure time, she likes to attend comedy shows, improv, theater, play piano (she is learning!), or explore the Minnesota area.
