She worked as a reporter, anchor, and interim sports director for two years at WFXR in Roanoke, Virginia. She covered the Virginia Tech Hokies, Virginia Cavaliers, and, most notably, the Cavaliers’ 2019 National Championship run during her time in Roanoke. Samantha is most pleased with the design and debut of Hokies All Access, a weekly Hokies athletics show that highlighted student-athletes, Hokie traditions, and coach insight.
Samantha began her career in television at FOX34 in Lubbock, Texas. She was able to share the experiences of young athletes as well as community stories, all while building lifelong connections and memories. Waddell is eternally grateful for the individuals she met and the chances she was given while living in the Hub City.
She graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in broadcast journalism with a focus on sports. Every Saturday, this proud Sooner can be found cheering for her lads in Crimson and Cream! Samantha’s life revolves around sports. Samantha can typically be found watching a game if she isn’t covering one, especially if her brother, Brandon, is pitching for the Minnesota Twins.
She enjoys spending her days off at a game, talking baseball, visiting the neighborhood with her dog Sophie, or simply spending time with family and friends at home.
