Before joining KEYC-TV, he worked for KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as a morning show host and meteorologist for nearly 11 and a half years (September 2008 – January 2020). For 12 years (from August 1995 to July 2007), Cable served at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as a meteorologist.
Cable began his broadcasting career at his high school’s KNUJ radio (860 AM) in New Ulm, Minnesota, known as “The Polka Station of the Nation.” On the day he was hired, his small town was hit by canned hams-sized hail. It was the first storm he had forecasted, and from then on, he knew he wanted a career where he could assist in saving lives by keeping individuals safe during storms. Besides journalism, Cable has worked for Meta Financial Group, Inc. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as a Marketing and Product Development for a year (2007 – 2008).
Over the years of his career, he has won several awards and honors, including an Emmy Award for his remarkable reporting and anchoring work. The Associated Press named him Best Weathercaster in South Dakota in the years 2002 and 2005. Cable is part of the National Weather Association (NWA) and has earned their Broadcaster Seal of Approval.
As a tenor vocalist, Cable has had the honor of singing with various groups, including Statesmen, the Sioux Empire Brass Society, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, and the South Dakota State University Concert Choir. Additionally, he performs in several concerts each year with Erik Apland, a former White House pianist.
