Further, she was a college professor and newspaper columnist. Since she joined WSYX she has been able to tackle a wide variety of stories impacting the Central Ohio community. For instance, vehicle recalls and troop homecomings, and teen suicide prevention. She also helped in exposing bad business practices and save the people of Arizona millions of dollars.
Furthermore, during that time she was also able to write a weekly consumer column in the Arizona Republic which happens to be the state’s largest newspaper. Additionally, she served as a morning anchor at KKTV in Colorado Springs and at KSWO in Lawton/Ft. Sill which happens to be her native home.
She happens to be an award-winning anchor and reporter who has covered stories from across the country. Some of the stories that she has covered include Prince Harry’s visit to the United States, Super Bowl XLIX, and the Aurora Theater shooting. While doing her reports she reported live from Oklahoma after a deadly tornado made its way through Moore.
Further, she took her viewers inside the cleanup and recovery efforts. During the Arizona freeway shootings, and deadly wildfires in Colorado she anchored this breaking news and also reported during the “Flood of the Century” in Phoenix. She was raised as a Navy brat in an Army town Lawton/Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and to date she is still connected to the military community.
Also, she is a USO member and a long-time volunteer, so it makes her happy to share the numerous programs of the USO in Central Ohio, she served as the Chair of the Advisory Council for USO Arizona and raised thousands of dollars for the expansion of the Rocky Mountain USO facility on Fort Carson.
Further, she served as an instructor at Fort Carson’s Transition University and developed a course in interpersonal communication at the university that is a pilot program focused on assisting soldiers with their transition to civilian life. For her service, the Department of the Army awarded her the prestigious “Commander’s Award for Public Service.”
Additionally, she has taught Public Speaking and Interpersonal Communication at Cameron University, Pikes Peak Community College, and at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs for nearly ten years. Together with her husband, they are huge college football fans, so they are excited to join Buckeye nation. Residing in Columbus makes her so excited as he is closer to her parents, who live outside of Akron.
