Montiero has been working as a State Trooper – Public Affairs Officer for FDHSMVV – Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor in Orlando, Florida, since April 2010. Montiero is also a decorated combat veteran.
Before joining WKMG, he worked with the Florida Highway Patrol for 8 years. There he patrolled Volusia, Osceola, Seminole, Orange, Lake, and Brevard counties, along with the Orlando area of the Florida Turnpike. Subsequently, he was assigned to the Florida Highway Patrol Motorcycle Unit where he did public speaking engagements and discovered his love for community involvement. Montiero ultimately became the face of FHP in Orlando. Lt., from that experience. He was taken under Kim Montes’s wing and became an assistant Public Affairs Officer.
In the last couple of years, he has been well-known as “Trooper Steve” across Florida State. He has done everything from interviews and corporate events on News 6. He has brought a wealth of knowledge to the people of Central Florida such as crisis negotiations, law enforcement tactics, military operations and weapon knowledge, and traffic safety experience.
During his leisure, he likes traveling and exploring Florida beaches. He looks forward to visiting Vatican City. Also, he enjoys going to his fav restaurant “Café Tu Tu Tango,” listening to music, reading his fav book “The Lottery,” having his fav food “seafood,” cheering on the Dallas Cowboys, or watching Game of Thrones.
