Hirasuna serves at Fox 11 in Los Angeles, California as the weekend news anchor. She accepted a job at KTTV, a Los Angeles-based Fox-owned network, in December 1995. Her most dramatic moments at the anchor desk include the death of Princess Diana, the wildfires in Northridge, and the train crash in Chatsworth in 2008. She initially started out as an anchor for the weekend. She has co-hosted the weekend edition of Studio 11 LA since 2011.
Hirasuna traveled to Japan on a fellowship in 2012, after the 2011 TÅhoku earthquake and tsunami. She spent time afterward reporting tales of the resilience of the people and the strength of the natural disaster. She interviewed Archbishop Desmond Tutu in the same year. Hirasuna confirmed that she had her favorite interview of all time. She revealed her interest in food on the network as well. She has a series called See Susan’s Secret, where the skills of renowned bartenders and celebrity chefs are illuminated.
