During this time, she covered Hurricane Floyd, one of the most severe storms in North Carolina’s history. In 2001, Tara moved to Charlotte and became a Meteorologist at News 14 Carolina, a 24-hour cable news station, where she dedicated 15 years to extensive live coverage, ranging from hurricanes to winter storms.

Following a year in Columbus, Ohio at NBC4, she returned to Charlotte and joined the Queen City News team. Tara is a member of the National Weather Association and holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.

Beyond forecasting, she prioritizes community involvement and co-emceeing events for the Alzheimer’s Association and NC Chamber’s Women > A Force in Business conference.
