Tim began the first transportation reporting beat in the Twin Cities during his 15 years with FOX 9, and in recent years has reported from the State Capitol, overseeing FOX 9’s political coverage. Tim’s professional effort has been honored by his peers with four Emmy Awards for best news anchor and the Edward R. Murrow Award for writing.
Tim grew up in Wisconsin and lived in New Mexico for a time, but he considers Minnesota his home and is a die-hard Gophers supporter. Blotz has put his degree to good use by assisting some of the non-profits with whom he volunteers in developing stronger stakeholder insights and brand messaging.
Tim has also contributed to the Minnesota Brain Injury Alliance’s groundbreaking “Unmasking Brain Injuries” project by reporting on it. Hundreds of people across the state have painted and embellished masks that tell the story of their own brain injuries that might otherwise go unnoticed. Tim hosts the organization’s Walk for Thought as well as the Strides for Stroke Walk each year.

Working alongside his family to discover a cure for Type 1 diabetes is one of Tim’s passions. Tim and his wife Susan have been active members of JDRF for many years after both of their kids were diagnosed with T1D as children. Blotz was given the organization’s public service award in 2012.
