While she served as a correspondent at CNN, her most memorable moment was when she got a private drum lesson from Ringo Starr! On a more serious note, she has been on the ground for the Boston Marathon terrorist attack, the discovery of the Cleveland kidnapping victims, the tragedy at Sandy Hook, and the U.S Supreme Court Affordable Care Act and same-sex marriage decisions, just to name a few.
Additionally, she also spent time reporting for the D.C Los Angelos, Miami, and Atlanta bureaus of CNN. She served as a political correspondent in 2012, whereby she covered the presidential race for CNN Newsource’s “running mate.” More than 800 affiliates were served by her with personalized coverage, insightful analysis, and award-winning reporting.
Furthermore, she was live from caucuses, political events, debates, political conventions, election night in Chicago, and primaries. Her journalism career began in Huntsville, Ala at WAFF 48 News where she served as a general assignment reporter. Additionally, her coverage of fatal tornadoes, and for also covering the visit of the vice presidents in the area led to her being honored with an Alabama AP award.
She works as a lecturer at Northwestern University where she teaches live reporting seminars to graduate broadcast journalism students. In Washington, D.C., she reported on local immigration issues for NewsChannel 8. Additionally, she also worked for other CBS affiliates in Montana/Wyoming, and for KTVQ.
Prior to serving as an anchor and a producer on a weekly newscast on WYCC which is in Chicago in Hilton Head, S.C., she wrote articles for the Island Packet. During her leisure time, she enjoys watching and playing soccer. Previously, she was an NCAA Division I player and two-time Gatorade player of the year. In addition, she also enjoys running, golf, iced lattes, surfing, and tennis.
