Ryan went to Franklin Pierce University in 1990 and later graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor’s degree, Communication / English. There he majored in radio and television production, writing, and performance. Later in the year 2002, he joined Scuba Schools International where he became Certified Diver (C-Card) Open Water Scuba Diver in 2003. He also attended S&S Aviation a Private Pilot, Aviation school in 2012 for two years. Additionally, he also went to South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy and became a South Carolina’s Class 1 certified Police Officer.

He also went to Vermont Criminal Justice Training Council and became a certified full-time police officer, LEO Basic Training in 1996. Ryan also went to Advanced Law Enforcement / Investigative Training for Police Officer Certification / Vermont / Class 1 – South Carolina, Narcotics, sexual assault, child abuse, and crisis negotiation. Further, he also went to Sea School United States Coast Guard Charter Boat Captain, and Maritime Professional Mariner. There he graduated with a PASS.

Ryan works at WOLO-TV as a weather anchor/ morning co-host. He began his career in the year of hair rock at a small radio station in Keene, NH. There he found a niche as a country radio morning personality and event host after college. After serving there for a year, he found himself on the air at Cat Country in Charleston. As he continued to work in television he also started honing his emcee and public speaking skills.

Ryan was tapped to join a new country radio station in Columbia in 2005, as the community liaison, and morning show host, build promotions, interview some of the biggest country stars in the business, and make frequent trips to Nashville to meet. He continued working in the community, acting as emcee for over 100 community events a year and serving on boards. Later in 2006, he joined the Fox affiliate, WACH-TV, in Columbia as a weatherman which led him to host and anchor.

Additionally, he also served as the Executive Producer for Good Day Columbia for many years. Ryan produced multiple franchise programs and hosted a cooking competition show at Fox and the award-winning series “Tyler’s Travels” and “Food Friday,” as well as a full-length program concentrating on the Basic Training program at Fort Jackson. He also reported breaking news including the Gabbie Swainson disappearance, the AME shooting in Charleston, as well as the dangers of the Internet.

In addition, he also featured several investigative pieces surrounding unsolved crimes, and Columbia’s long search for a new Chief of Police. He was honored to be named the South Carolina Broadcasters Association Television Personality of the Year in 2013 and several community affairs awards. Ryan has also been selected and won several local and regional awards for his media work in both television and radio over the decades.
