Holt serves at WKRN News 2 as a special contributor reporting on people and groups that make a difference in our community. Before this role, she served the station as a primary news anchor and spent 4 decades in that role. She is recognized by her peers throughout the region as an outstanding role model.

During the News 2 “Food to Families” campaign”, she served as the spokesperson. She dedicated many years to helping feed hungry families in Middle Tennessee and this led to the naming of a sorting room at the Second Harvest Food Bank named after her “Anne Holt Room”.

For her investigative documentary “Under the Influence”, she became a beneficiary of the coveted George Foster Peabody Award. As soon as she completed her college studies, she was able to secure a job at WATE-TV, a local television station. She relocated to Nashville in 1976, and soon she worked as a reporter and weekend anchor for r News 2. She became a prime anchor in 1980.

During her time as an anchor at WKRN, she received numerous awards and honors including the Donald G, Hileman Distinguished Alumni, the Jerry Thompson Communicator’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” from NCCJ, an award from the University of Tennessee College of Communications, and the Distinguished Service Award from the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters. With that honor, she earned the privilege of being the first woman, the first African American, and the first news anchor to receive the award.

She has served on the boards of Leadership Nashville, Middle Tennessee March of Dimes, the United Way of Middle Tennessee, the Honorary Leadership Committee for the Nashville Chamber of Commerce’s Partnership 2000 Project, Cumberland Valley Girl Scouts, NCCJ, Book’em, Inroads/Nashville and many non-profit fundraising committees. When coming to her education, she graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
