Everett serves at WCVB NewsChannel 5 as an anchor of “Chronicle” (WCVB’s nightly newsmagazine). He began hosting the program in September 2005. Everett began as a general assignment reporter at the station. He has served as an evening news anchor at WCVB, appearing on the noon, 5 PM, 5:30 PM, 6 PM, and 11 PM newscasts. Everett has been WCVB’s senior correspondent for breaking news and important national events. He often helps with special reports for all the newscasts on WCVB.
Throughout his time at WCVB-TV, Everett has taken on leadership roles. For 30 years, he has been the main negotiator and shop steward for the SAG-AFTRA bargaining unit at WCVB. He is also a part of the Hearst Certified Change Agent program, which promotes understanding and acceptance of diversity, equity, and inclusion at work.
He has been chosen to lead an internal Change Agent group to guide the company on these important initiatives. Moreover, Everett is a certified drone pilot approved by the FAA. He played a key role in helping Chronicle create a drone program for capturing aerial videos.
Before joining WCVB, Everett worked at WVIT-TV, in Hartford, Connecticut, as a weekday anchor on the 6 & 11 p.m. news and general assignment reporter. His broadcasting career began in the year 1984 at KSPN-TV in Aspen, Colorado, where he worked as a sports anchor/reporter. He then became KSPN’s news director and stayed there until the year 1987.
Everett is very committed to helping others, and he has worked with many charitable organizations. Some of these include Habitat for Humanity, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Boston Ballet, Boston Healthcare for the Homeless, the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra, Derby Academy, the Home for Little Wanderers, and others. He has been a board member, volunteer, and a strong supporter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for a long time.
When coming to his education, Everett is a proud alumnus of Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, and Trinity School in New York City. He works at Tufts University as a guest lecturer in their Media Studies and Film Program. During his leisure time, he likes chilling at the beach, hiking in the mountains, and skiing (he formerly worked as a ski instructor).
