Clarke serves at WYFF News 4 Today as a News Anchor and Health/Medical Reporter. She anchors the 6 and 11 o’clock newscasts. She serves the upstate of South Carolina, western North Carolina, and northeastern Georgia. While in college, she spent part of her senior year researching British Mass Media. In Marquette, Michigan, and Rochester, New York, Carol served as an anchor/reporter. After all, a brush with frostbite in Rochester made her realize that living in a warmer setting could suit her better, and she gladly accepted an anchor position at WYFF New 4 in 1985.
She found her niche in wellness and medical news, after specializing in crime and business reporting. Carol has received a number of prizes, including a 2009 Peabody award for her work on “Chronicle: Paul’s Gift.” For a series, she did on the textile industry in Taiwan and Hong Kong, she has also won numerous Emmys, three National Headliner Awards, and the Champion-Tuck Economics Prize for Business Reporting. She was inducted into the NATAS Silver Circle as well. When coming to her education, she is a proud graduate of Richmond College in England.
The South Carolina Broadcaster’s Association awarded her the Masters Award, one of its highest honors, in 2007. It “acknowledges lifetime achievements of on-air broadcasters who have made significant contributions to broadcasting in South Carolina and who personify high broadcast industry standards within their communities.” Every weekday at 6 and 11 Carol continues to report on health and medical issues through her famous segment 4 Your Health.” with her co-anchor Michael Cogdill.
